ABOUT ME

I'm a painter and illustrator based in Malvern, Worcestershire specialising in portraiture. I work in oil on canvas, and my subjects are people, sculptures, and figures in imaginary landscapes. I undertake a variety of painting commissions.

I started drawing and painting from an early age, studying the Old Master techniques by visiting galleries, and practising observational drawing and painting. After completing my university education I lectured on the Creative Media MA at Worcester University for three years, as well as taking on commissions.

A painting has the power to stir an emotional impact within the viewer, and is a window into another reality. A painted portrait takes time, patience, and skill to create. During the painting process I interpret the subject through my eyes; capturing the person's essence, character and personality. In the painting they become immortal as their image is preserved forever in time. So is the moment and memory.

My past commissions include:

'The Official Portrait of John Bateman OBE, Chair of Governors, University of Worcester' 2022

'The Official Portrait of the Very Reverend Dr Peter Atkinson, Dean of Worcester Cathedral' 2018

BA (Hons) Fine Art Practice 2013 (First Class)
